It Was the Party of the Decade!

As with any good renovation, ours naturally got a bit delayed – we had to postpone the date of the gathering no fewer than 5 times before finally setting it for April 13th. Then, on the very afternoon before the event, an accident happened that we were still fixing the next day. With all these setbacks, we were asking ourselves whether we’d even make it … But we did! At the (almost :)) agreed time, we were ready to welcome our first visitors.

Because we wanted to offer them more than just socializing in a pleasant setting, we prepared 10 (ex)periences. These took our guests on a journey from Optiweb’s beginnings all the way to our future goals, while also letting them get to know our services and employees, and try their hand at a few activities. And which ones sparked the most excitement?

Time Machine

Of course, we had to start … at the beginning. You could see a reconstruction of Miha’s very first office, complete with the original chair, desk, computer, a snapshot of his first website, and his very first “professional” business cards.

The More, the Merrier!

Next, there was a walk along our timeline. Guests could browse through the most memorable events we’ve attended, teambuildings, and other sweet #optilife moments. Each year was illustrated with photos of the employees who joined us at that time.

You could also try out a short computer game, specially developed for the occasion by our intern Peter: The Legend of Miha. In it, Miha overcomes obstacles like bugs and 404 errors and climbs his way to the top.

From games straight to … tests?! We wanted to see how well you know Optiweb, our employees, and our services, so we prepared 10 (seemingly) simple questions. Curious about the results?

Together, we achieved 46% correct answers. Almost a passing grade! :) Let’s take a look at where it got the trickiest:

Get Moving

After the tough quiz, it was time to loosen up. You could try your skills in the elastic band game (Strelastike) or dance with us in Just Dance.

The Gears

We’re most successful when we function as a whole and when each team makes sure your project is flawlessly carried out. But such inter-team organization also takes effort – something you could see for yourself if you tried to assemble and spin our giant gear mechanism.

The Sky Is the Limit

We invited you to write down a wish or a goal you’d like to see us fulfill. We’ll gladly welcome some latecomers too – just drop your wish in the comments – and we hope as many as possible come true!

Say Cheese!

We know every get-together flies by too quickly, so we set up a photo booth where you could put on a mustache or another prop of your choice, step into our OW-frame, and smile for the camera.

Speech, Speech!

When the crowd was at its peak, it was time for the main part of the event. Tina presented why redesigning a logo isn’t as simple as one might think (you can read more about our logo redesign [here]). Then Miha took the floor, thanking all the guests for their support and attendance, and sharing Optiweb’s vision and goals for the future.

As a token of appreciation for his hard work, we employees surprised Miha with a special video, featuring stories from his childhood to today, along with our warmest wishes for the future. You can watch it here.

After Party

But the event didn’t end there. There was still plenty of time for good conversations and mingling, so we rounded off the evening with an afterparty in a local pub – complete with karaoke, of course.

What Did We Learn About Event Organization? :)

Mainly, that you should never drill into a wall at the last minute, never poke around water pipes, and that Saturday (even with organized childcare) may not be the best day for such an event.
