Janez Alič

Magento Developer

My story

When I joined the company, I knew that I wanted to learn how to make websites and that I came to the right place. Now, I spend most of my time creating online stores in Magento and creating my own modules. But since each new experience represents a new challenge, I do not shrink at other things. What’s more, I tackle them with enthusiasm.
With several years of experience in creating online stores I mustered enough courage to test my knowledge. I can now boast with three Magento certificates: – Developer, Developer Plus and Solution Specialist.

What makes for a good working environment?

Not a day goes by that we don’t have music at the office. We mostly listen the online radio but there’s always time for singers‑songwriters Adi Smolar and Iztok Mlakar. That’s when our office transforms into a crowded hall featuring a mixed choir. Of course, none of this would be possible without the right climate (the one we create with our co-workers and the one made possible by the air-conditioning in our office).

What’s the funniest thing that happened to you at Optiweb?

My co-workers and me were going out for lunch. Because one of us is always late (this time, it was me), my co-worker called me on the phone. I didn’t have his number, so he successfully pretended to be a client. We talked for five minutes, during which time he made some crazy requests. He was standing five metres from me but I didn’t realise that it was him. We still laugh about it.

What’s the best thing you can still get for no more than €5?

A winning Lotto 7 ticket.

What do you do when you have half an hour of free time?

If I can find my pick (my one-year-old nephew keeps hiding it), I grab my guitar and play a song that comes to mind. Usually, though, I spend the time trying to find the pick.
